UNITE TO SAY NO TO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
In declaring November 25th « international day of eradicating all kind of violence against women” the UN invites all governments and NGO’s to lead actions and events dedicated to sensitising public opinion about this issue.
The European forum of Muslim Women
1/ expresses its deep concern with the violence against women all over the world and under its different forms (physical, psychological and verbal…).
2/ considers the figures related to this phenomenon as alarming and have to be taken seriously: in France 30% of women are victims of domestic violence, while stressing that the statistics do not always reflect the reality that is often darker.
3/ Denounces trafficking women and forcing them into prostitution networks, or subjecting them to domestic servitude.
4/Reminds governments that it’s not sufficient to legislate but we need more acts of prevention and punishing all forms of violence against women and girls at all levels.
5/ Calls organizations, associations and individuals, men and women, to break the vicious circle of violence, denounce it and allow the victims to speak out their sufferings.
6/ Invites all organizations, educators and social actors to act, to educate and empower men and women to fight violence. It Calls them to inform of the dangers and consequences of this disastrous plague on the health of women and of society in general.
7/ Affirms that both the values of Islam and the Prophet’s teachings prohibit any practice derogatory to human dignity inflicted to women. Prophet Muhammad said “recommend to each others to treat women properly” transmitted by Abu Hurayra.
8/Encourages all stakeholders and social associations, and especially Muslim imams in Europe to raise awareness among Muslims, especially during Friday sermons on respect for women and their human dignity and the importance of family stability, embodied by a relationship of mutual respect, understanding, compassion and caring.

Peace be upon the soul of Marwa al-Sharbini,
a victim of islamophobia in Germany
The European Forum of Muslim Women wants to condemn strongly the barbarian act and racist crime towards the victim Marwa al-Sharbini, who was on Court for an appeal judgement against a criminal who insulted her in racist terms last summer.
This racist killer refused the court’s decision of him to pay a fine, and called to appeal and committed his crime on July, 1st during this very judgment by stabbing his victim in front of the German judges and policemen.
She was the mother of a son, an Egyptian pharmacist, and came to Germany so that her husband can end his studies before going back home. She is now laying in a coffin, her husband in the hospital because of the numerous injuries he got, and he son injured too, but particularly shocked by the scene he has seen in front of his eyes. They were a happy and well-integrated family with a beautiful future, but a racist person decided else for them and destroyed this happiness. Islamophobia is now threatening each Muslim person in Germany, but as well as all over Europe where they live amalgams and hostility from all parts, including from politicians.
The European Forum of Muslim Women considers this attack on Marwa’s life as a terrible event that must call us all and politicians in particular to firmly denouncing this crime and to fighting against islamophobia with firm determination so as to get rid of this dramatic evil that destroys unity and threatens peace in the European society.
The fact that such a disaster could have taken place in a court affects the German justice on its whole and paves the way for doubt and suspicion towards its security service.

Europäisches Forum der muslimischen Frauen EFOMW
Das europäische Forum für die muslimische Frau entwickelte sich Anfang 2006
aus verschiedenen aktiven Frauenvereinen in Europa.
Das Ziel ist, die muslimische Frau im Rahmen der europäischen Union zu vertreten.
Der Erfahrungsaustausch unter den Mitgliedern soll gefördert und das Engagement der muslimischen Frau in der europäischen Gesellschaft erleichtert werden.
Ziele:
- Mitgestaltung der europäischen Gesellschaft im sozialen Bereich
- gesellschaftspolitische Interessenvertretung auf Europaebene
- Förderung des interkulturellen und interreligiösen Dialogs für ein friedliches Miteinander
- Anregung von Zusammenarbeit mit anderen europäischen Frauenorganisationen, mit
Schulen und Bildungsstätten für die Förderung der Frauenarbeit.
-Plattform gegen jegliche Art von Diskriminierung, speziell gegen die Unterdrückung der
muslimischen Frau.
- Mitwirken am Schutz der Familien und Förderung der Erziehung
-Organisation von gemeinsamen Veranstaltungen, Tagungen und Symposien zur Förderung
der europäischen Einheit.

Muslimische Frauen in Europa- Welche Beteiligung ?
Für die muslimische Frau in Europa gibt es zahlreiche und diverse Möglichkeiten, sich in die Gesellschaft einzubringen.
Es ist lohnenswert, sie hierbei zu motivieren und zu unterstützen.
Zu dem bestehenden Engagement der Frauen, sich positiv in die Gesellschaft einzubringen, gibt es zahlreiche Talente, die darauf warten, geeignete Bedingungen zu finden, um aktiv zu werden.
Dafür müssen die sozialen Schwierigkeiten beseitigt werden und die positive Integration vorangetrieben werden, damit die muslimischen Frauen sich Selbstverwirklichen können.
Gerade zu diesem Zweck findet dieser erste Kongress statt, der die Realität der muslimischen Frau in Europa zeigen soll.
Der Kongress soll zeigen, welche Rechte und Pflichten die muslimischen Frauen in Europa genießen und welche Möglichkeiten ihnen offen stehen, um ein selbstverständliches Miteinander zu ermöglichen.
Auf der anderen Seite, sollen Schwierigkeiten beleuchtet werden und nach Lösungsmöglichkeiten gesucht werden.
Beteiligung der muslimischen Frau am Aufbau der europäischen Gesellschaft:

Der Gründungs-Kongress fand im Rahmen der Feierlichkeiten zum Weltfrauentag am 8.3.2006 statt.

Seminar: Intercultural Dialogue: a challenge for faiths and convictions?
On November 13. 2008, the European Commission organised a one-day seminar on the religious dimension of intercultural dialogue. The conference was held in the framework of the 2008 European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, and as a follow-up to the 2007 European Year of Equal Opportunities for All.
The seminar brought together project coordinators, policy makers, experts in the fields of education and the media, as well as representatives of religious and secular groups active in the field of intercultural dialogue in order to learn from their practical experiences and good practices and identify ways to improve the situation, where and when need be.
About 100 participants took part in three panel sessions focusing on challenges for education, for the media, and dialogue between faiths and convictions.
An exhibition and cyber café allowed participants to get informed on initiatives concerning dialogue between religions and convictions, and provided ample opportunity for exchange and networking.
During the seminar, the Jewish-Arab youth choir "Voices of Peace" provided an inspiring example of dialogue in practice through their performance of songs in Hebrew, Arab and English.

Begrüßungsansprache durch Herr Sajjad Karim, Mitglied des europäischen Parlaments.
Muslimische Frauen sollten eine Vorreiter-Rolle spielen und den Anschluss im Berufsleben, Politik und Kultur finden. Wir brauchen eine europäische Obama.
Noura Jaballah begrüßte die Anwesenden im Namen des Europäischen Forums der muslimischen Frauen EFOMW, der Frauenverbände aus 12 europäischen Ländern vertritt.
Sie betonte, dass Dialog der einzige Weg ist, Missverständnisse abzubauen. Das Projekt EYID 2008 (europäisches Jahr des interkulturellen Dialogs) war mit seinen Veranstaltungen und Initiativen sehr erfolgreich.
Es gilt sich zu öffnen und den Dialog als Bereicherung zu erleben. Man will sich kennenlernen, Fragen stellen und Antworten finden.
Trotz der Vielfalt und der unterschiedlichen Blickpunkte gibt es gemeinsame Werte, die uns wiederum vereinen.
Die Vizepräsidentin des europäischen Parlaments Luisa Morgantini (Konföderale Fraktion der Vereinigten Europäischen Linken/Nordische Grüne Linke) spricht über Videobotschaft zu uns. Sie ist ein Führungsmitglied der italienischen Friedensbewegung und ist Mitglied im palästinensischen Arbeitskreis für Frieden in Palästina.
Dorsaf Ben Dhiab, Vizepräsidentin des EFOMW und Partnerin der EYID, spricht über die Ergebnisse der Agenda 2008.
Dialog auf gleicher Augenhöhe ist nur möglich, wenn gleiche Rechte und gleiche Würde zugestanden werden. Es darf kein ´Reich des Bösen´ und ´Reich des Guten´ oder kein Dialog zwischen Meister und Diener sein.
Es gilt die Gleichheit der Menschen zu betonen. Man sollte die inneren Werte, Intelligenz und Wissen anerkennen und dazu den Glauben nicht in den Vordergrund stellen.
Die Verbannung der religiösen Zeichen 2004 in Frankreich aus der Öffentlichkeit hat sich wie ein Ölfleck auf den Dialog ausgewirkt.
Die Früchte des interkulturellen Dialogs EYID 2008:

-gemeinsame Werte finden und bestätigen
-Sozioprofessionelle Arbeit
